“Tech 2 Market” kicked off its 3-day panel this week, inviting representatives from the local tech industry to meet with representatives from the Air Force to discuss emerging technologies. The event was sponsored in part by Rim Tech and hosted by the Center for Technology, Research and Commercialization (C-TRAC), a non-profit organization that is, in their words, “dedicated to developing solutions to ensure transfer of federal, commercial, or university-developed technology to businesses, entrepreneurs or startups.” The event was organized in part by Erin Myers and Susan Pattee of C-TRAC. Beginning on September 26th and wrapping up September 29th, “Tech 2 Market” is a part of the larger Startup Week taking place in Colorado Springs from September 26-30. Startup Week is a conference by and for entrepreneurs, meant to promote entrepreneurship and open up discussions about it within the community.
The Tech 2 Market panel took place at Catalyst Campus, where C-TRAC is based, and Rim Technologies had the pleasure of participating. The idea of Tech 2 Market is to put businesses in contact with Air Force technologies that aren’t known or used in the commercial sector. Similar events, called “Innovation Discovery,” have been held before by DoD-affiliated non-profit TechLink, but this is the first time it has been held in Colorado Springs, giving the local tech industry a chance to learn about and evaluate the potential of developing technologies. TechLink already collaborates with USAFA and the Air Force Research Labs, and the panel helped bring local businesses in closer contact with these organizations and the tech that they’re producing as well as offering opportunities for panel discussions about a variety of topics such as better understanding government requirements and how to market technologies to Defense customers. Rim Tech was pleased to collaborate with the Air Force to sponsor this wonderful event.
