The Defense Entrepreneurs Forum (DEF) will be holding their inaugural DEFx Colorado: Innovation at Elevation here in Colorado Springs. The conference runs all day on August 12 at the Air Force Academy and is meant to bring the start-up community in closer contact with the military to promote innovation in the defense community. It draws on TED Talk events, bringing in representatives from USAFA, CyberWorx, Army Space & Missile Defense Command, H4Di, and more to give talks and present on panels. We’re pleased to announce that Rim Technologies CEO and Founder Sara Kinney will be speaking on the Defense Intrapreneurs Panel at the conference.

DEFxColorado will open with a keynote speech from the Director of CyberWorx, Colonel Jeffrey Collins. Having taken part in CyberWorx Design Sprints before to help develop innovative solutions to issues currently facing the Air Force, we look forward to hearing from him on the topic of innovation in Defense. The keynote will be followed by a series of panels from DoD Intrapreneurs. In addition to Sara Kinney, the panel will include Lieutenant Colonel Aaron Roof, Professor of Military Science at the University of Colorado, Boulder; Major Matt Cavanaugh, co-founder of the Modern War Institute at West Point; and Major Joe Byerly, and Army officer and author of the blog From the Green Notebook. The conference will close by talking about how to apply Lean Startup principles to issue in defense.
