On August 23 RIMTECH attended a District 11 industry outreach event at Roy J Wasson Academic Campus. A few years ago, District 11 made the decision to change Wasson High School to a career pathways school. It’s a groundbreaking program that offers both traditional and non-traditional students a number of occupational paths: a Business and Marketing Pathway; a Cyber Security Pathway; an Education Pathway; a Horticulture & Landscape Technologies Pathway; a Hospitality and Tourism Pathway; a Transportation Pathway; and a Visual and Design Arts Pathway. We worked with students from the Cyber Security Pathway earlier this summer when we participated in the Cyber Prep Internship program through Pikes Peak Community College. We accepted two high school interns to learn about cybersecurity on the job at RIMTECH, giving them a chance to gain hands-on experience in the field.
They are currently seeking legislative actions to allow further career pathway interactions with industry to happen. Roy J Wasson Academic Campus is wonderful for school choice, and it offers students unique opportunities, such as the ability to have their Associate’s degree completely covered by the district. We are proud to support D11 pathways schools. We featured Friends of D11 on our blog earlier this summer when we hosted a Bring our Kids Fundraiser for them in our space, and we have always been a strong supporter of STEM education and resources in local schools. We encourage others to support D11 and funding for tech in schools. You can read more about RJW Academic Campus on the D11 website: https://www.d11.org/RJWAC.
